Arm Pump 10.15.07

Hi everyone, I'm going to post Part 1 of our "Killer XR" article in "Arm Pump" this week.  The bike turned out great, I hope you enjoy...

I started with a stock 1975 Honda XR75 chassis, with a Jeff Ward Racing Chromoly swingarm, 13.5" Boge shocks.  The wheels were relaced with new stainless spokes and DID aluminum rims, with a 17" on the front, replacing the stock 16".   DG aircaps were added to the front forks, with a Preston Petty Mini-Muder IB Front Fender.  The rear fender, and kill switch was provided my www.re-mx.com . We also shed a little weight by adding aluminum motor mounts, and aluminum wheel spacers.   We had the gas tank custom painted to reflect the power this machine was to put out.

Our motor was sent out to Jim Bowen in Pa. .  Jim is a renowned XR75 engine builder, and we wanted to use his talents on this project.   Jim worked his magic on the motor, and we will soon post dyno information on the modifications he performed.   He promises nothing more than whiplash, and a set of white knuckles with these mods.  Here is Jim's email  glenrockjim@hotmail.com .

We opted to use a Powroll Stroker crank, big bore piston, needle bearing cam, Heavy Duty valve springs, flow ported head, lightened flywheel, straight shot intake manifold, matched to a NOS Keihin 22mm carb, (along with a few other internal tricks he claimed were top secret and wouldn't tell us) and an oil cooler to keep things running cool.  Our bike is now an XR100!  I also used a DG finned aluminum valve cover on the motor as well.  We will post more detailed information on these modifications in Part 2 of this article.

For our exhaust, I had XR75 expert Alex Jud of SoCal make us an FMF XR75 replica pipe, and aluminum exhaust flange.  Alex replicated it to the T!  Alex can be reached at miserati@aol.com

Here's a sneak peak...

Stay tuned for Part 2 of the "Killer XR".  We will share more information on the motor modifications, how the bike ran, and see the bike in it's final stage.

Talk Soon,
